Throwback to pre-pandemic times: Shams Mountain – 10 Jan 2020

Early 2020, ODC organized an adventure on top of Oman’s highest mountain, Jabal Shams. The adventure commenced with a hike along the edge of the canyon, the so called ‘Balcony Walk’. Later that day, and just after the first stretch, heavy rains forced us to take shelter in the abandoned village of Sap Bani Khamis – which added an adventurous twist to our hike! While exploring the abandoned village, our team reflected on what the lifestyle was like there, just 70 years ago, learnt about Oman’s history and geology, and of course fed some super-friendly (and hungry) goats!
