ODC files a patent: a milestone in dental innovation
Oman Dental College is proud to announce the successful filing of its first patent application. This is a significant milestone achieved through the collaborative efforts of the Royal Oman Police (ROP), Oman Cement Company (OCC), and our dedicated team at ODC. This patent application has been officially submitted through the Oman Business Platform and is currently under review. While the registration status confirms that our intellectual property is now protected, we are awaiting the final decision and international protection, which is expected in the coming months.
This project underscores the power of collaboration between three prestigious Omani establishments, united in their commitment to advancing the well-being of humanity. The project aims to revolutionize the dental profession by developing new methods that are both cost-effective and efficient, addressing the growing demand for innovative dental treatments world-wide.
Commenting on this achievement, the Interim Dean, Prof Al Isamaili, stated: "We are committed to driving innovation in dental education and care. This patent filing demonstrates our efforts to advance the profession and contributes to boosting Oman’s innovation index, aligning with the goals of Oman Vision 2040".
Dr Abubaker Qutieshat, Head of Post graduate Education, Research and Innovation at ODC, added “this novel material, while not intended to completely replace conventional dental materials, offers an effective alternative that meets many of the current treatment needs”.
As we eagerly await the final approval and international recognition of this patent, we remain committed to our long-term vision of enhancing dental care and together with the strength of our local partnerships, we are building a brighter and healthier future for Oman.
